The Telecom Networks division of TE Connectivity (the brand new name for Tyco Electronics) provides end-to-end network accessory solutions for copper, fiber, coax and wireless telecom networks. Products include network accessories for central offices/head ends, outside plant and customer premises. The division has a strong growth strategy that is driven by deeper fiber penetration in broadband networks (FTTx) to increase bandwidth.
You will become part of a team with 9 colleagues (whereof 6 in ‘Communications’), reporting to the Marketing Director.
3 main tasks have to be taken up:
Training and demonstrations
Field Service
Internal projects
You will be involved in supporting and helping both customers as internal collaborators (e.g. sales engineers, operational colleagues,…) in the field of the real life applications of TE products, during and after the installation. Therefore you will be thoroughly trained in every TE Connectivity product
You will train customers and TE Connectivity sales engineers on technical products (showing them how exactly the products work, how to install them, etc.) by giving trainings, demonstrations, …
You will give input to the Product Development department in the latest phase, regarding the technical installation details
You will write and coordinate the installation instructions and technical product literature from the technical and content point of view, because you represent the outside world for each product. Therefore, you will e.g. also collaborate with the internal photographer to make sure every step of the installation of a product is well illustrated. You write and illustrate each step of the installation from a technical point of view. For this task, excellent communication and collaboration with R&D and Sales are essential
You will answer all technical product questions and will give support for invitations to tenders and orders
You will – autonomously - visit the customers at their premises to support and help them with field installations and problem solving
You will help your sales colleagues to make sure their commercial demos are well installed and working (at fairs, sales pitches, presentations, visits, conferences, …)
You will – autonomously - run smaller projects and give technical support at larger projects with colleagues
You will also collaborate by thinking, proposing and working out conceptual designs for specific product solutions
You will give technical presentations at events, conferences, fairs etc. and at customer visits (in or out of the house)
MSc in (applied) engineering, option mechanics, electro-mechanics or electronics or equivalent by experience, preferably with a basic knowledge in fiber glass technology
Good knowledge of product applications is preferred
Very practical and hands on by nature
Happy doing also some lab work as well (testing, try outs) and of course: field service work
Capable of working autonomously and a good commercial attitude are indispensable
Excellent communication & presentation skills are absolutely necessary
Perfect English and at least 1 other European language. Any other languages is an extra plus
Willing to travel up to 25% (mainly EU) in short trips
Flexibility in time management thanks to an excellent service mentality towards (also internal) customers and to catch up with peak moments
